• This 25-page website will cost you between $3,000 and $10,000 to buy if it is hand-made, the usual way.
• A 3 to 7 page "budget" website will cost you between $500 and $1,000 to buy, ready made from skeleton webpages.
• A Kennis KitSites! website like this will cost you an up-front fee of $250 and a minimum rental of $25/month.

Who rents a website?

How does website rental work?

1. You contact us.  We find out what you need and we decide whether we can supply that.
2. We talk over what webpages you need.
3. We help you to write the text which will go on those pages.  If you can't write well, it doesn't matter.  We can improve it.  You know about your business, we know about ours.  We'll work it out together. >>>More
4. We create a website with a temporary address which you can see from your home or office through the Internet.  It has all your pages, with the page headers and colour scheme you've chosen, and with your text and your images.
5. If you think it needs corrections or improvement then we'll change it until it's right.  We'll help you to get it right.
6. When you are satisfied, you pay us the $250 up-front fee plus the first month's rental.  You also fill in a form to start the automatic payments for your rental.
7. We move your website to its permanent address and tell the major search engines about it.

Your website is now working for you.

What will the website be called?

Normally, our rental websites have an address such as yourname.kennis.co.nz (with no "www.").  You decide what "yourname" will be.  This type of address isn't common at present but will be in the future.  It is called a "subdomain name".  It costs nothing to create one and there is no annual fee.

There's little prestige these days in having a "domain name".  People usually find you via a search engine.  They do not care what your actual address is.  If they think they'll be back, they'll bookmark it.  They may never even look at it.

You can, of course, have your own "dub-dub-dub" name on your KitSites! website if you want one.  We'll give you advice on what kind of name would be suitable.

A "domain name", such as www.yourname.co.nz requires payment of an annual fee.  When you "buy" a domain name you purchase the use of it for one or more years.  (It is really a rental.)  They inform you when it is due to expire, when you must pay a renewal fee to keep the use of it.

How can KitSites! websites be so cheap?

We don't create the webpages by hand.  All our webpages are generated by the KitSites! software which we created, from "kitset" models which we built.  We just put in the right settings, tell it where your headings, text and images are, and all the pages are built with hardly any work from us.  We don't know of any other company that does this.

Creating webpages this way is very fast and very reliable.  All our rental websites are "untouched by human hand", and each is unique.

We are a small business and have been operating here in NZ since 1999.  We understand from personal experience what a small business is.  We have also worked with a couple of not-for-profits and understand where they are coming from.
